Adventure Park becomes a Watch Around Water first

Posted on 25 October, 2018

Life Saving Victoria is excited to announce that Adventure Park Geelong has become the first ever water theme park to become accredited with Watch Around Water. Watch Around Water is a child supervision program, which aims to increase awareness of the importance of active supervision of young children at aquatic facilities.

Adventure Park Geelong is Victoria’s biggest water theme park with 24 epic rides and attractions including the Tornado, the Aqua Racer and the Gold Rush Rapids. The facility includes a wide range of wet and dry facilities and attracts huge visitor numbers from Victoria, Interstate and Overseas each year.

As a part of their registration Adventure Park have been supplied with a range of new resources to assist with the implementation of the program and staff training which will be conducted prior to the park opening in October.

The program aims to encourage parents and guardians to take on the responsibility of active supervision, whilst also providing aquatic facility operators with strategies to support this important safety initiative. If successfully implemented the program aims to ultimately reduce the number of fatal and non-fatal drowning incidents in the under 10-year age group.

LSV Pool Safety Coordinator Amy Cross says “LSV is delighted that Adventure Park have made this vital commitment to guest safety and we’re excited to support the venue team as they initiate the program this summer.”

Adventure Park will join 167 Victorian aquatic facilities on the program. For more information about the WAW program and the full list of accredited facilities please visit this link
